UXUS has created a new food court concept for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol bringing the outdoor vibrancy of a street food market into the newly redesigned Lounge 2. The goal was to break away from the standard airport food court design, offering a unique experience that caters to the airports diverse traveller profiles. Three different food concepts were created to offer variety and next-level hospitality for travelers of any age.
The Grill presents travelers with an exciting food theatre experience, serving made-to-order grilled favorites. Bespoke graphics, playful patterns and materiality all reference grill culture and provide a vibrant backdrop to entertain and excite travelers as they order and dine.
The Oven is a contemporary take on traditional Italian cuisine, offering a street food interpretation of Italy's favorite dishes. Interior elements reminiscent of a pizzeria are paired with more modern materials like layered wood paneling in muted greens and matte tiling. Beautifully staged fresh food displays complement a full view of the theatre kitchen and central pizza oven.
Continuing with the street food theme, a fresh market concept offers travelers a selection of treats, inspired by the city of Amsterdam. Referencing the city's diverse food markets, wood crates and boxes, bold graphic typography and fresh food displays reinforce the market theme and sense of place.
At the heart of the food court is a drinks station with signage made entirely of bottle caps, creating a playful landmark within the space. Overhead, neon lighting features the word "food" in multiple languages, to draw guests from the main concourse below and beyond the terminal. Different dining seating areas and posture options cater to the needs of varied travelers: custom tables with integrated lighting and power plugs offer the choice to relax, dine on the go, socialize and/or work.
