iF has announced that it has donated 25,000 EUR to five social aid projects across the globe through the first round of its 2018 Social Impact Prize.
"It is our priority to support ideas that aim to meet our social challenges," commented Ralph Wiegmann, iF CEO. "This prize, along with our active youth development program, is our contribution to the common good. We are determined to shine a light on the diverse social activities and commitment of people and organizations, to honor what they do and to provide them with financial support. For us, it is important to demonstrate the role that design can play in helping to settle urgent social issues."
Almost 200 social projects were entered for the first round of the award by companies, design studios, NGOs, foundations and both public and private organizations. Selected initiatives are: Girls Not Wives, Kanduna, Nigeria; Garbage Clinical Insurance, Malang, Indonesia; Conflictfood, Berlin, Germany; Rescue Foundation, Mumbai, India; and x-runner, Lima, Peru.
The second round of the prize is now open for entries, with a deadline of November 20, 2018.
