Volvo C30 Design Concept Car

The Volvo C30 Design Concept Car is a two-door, four-seated vehicle with a glass tailgate, and five cylinder turbo-assisted engines, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 6 seconds. Its small design is modeled after the PE1800ES and Volvo Safety concept car. The production version of the car will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September 2006.

The Volvo C30 Design Concept Car has been developed with young, successful urbanites in mind. This is a group for which brand and style are particularly important. When designing the C30 Design Concept, the Volvo team experimented extensively, borrowing ideas from the fashion industry. The shape of the windows and even the C30 Design Concept color palette were partly inspired by sporty sunglass models.

A specially designed version of Volvo's famous P1800 model, the 1800ES was only produced for two model years: 1972 and 1973. Despite its short production life however, it is considered a classic sports car. Its influence lives on: the 1800ES' back end largely inspired the attractive glass tailgate on the C30 Design Concept.

Impressively large wheels (19") help give the Volvo C30 Design Concept its muscular and slightly futuristic look. Such sizable wheels are often featured in design sketches but rarely make it to the production phase. The aluminum wheels have Pirelli Corsa 225/35 R19 tires and promise exciting things for the driver looking for a sporty ride.

The Volvo Team worked hard to come up with a color palette that would appeal to the fashion-conscious and creative personality. When the Volvo C30 appears on the roadways later this year it'll steal the show in dazzling "Quite White" and a bold "Very Bronze".
